The Preying Mantis is a vicious hunter with blinding speed that immobilizes victims with its grasp.
Seven Star Mantis
The Science of the Stars
Mantis Stars
Each star in 7 Star Mantis represents a target area on the human body. In the graphic above you see a map of the body’s nerves overlaid with 4 of the Mantis Stars. Each of these stars lye in an area where several nerves converge creating perfect targets for the Mantis style. A Mantis strikes with lightning speed grabbing its prey; and a Mantis fighter grabs, hooks, or strikes these nerves to subdue an enemy.
Nerve Hold
Near the elbow are several nerves that are very close to the surface of your arm. If someone grabs you or tries to choke you this is an excellent nerve to attack. The positioning above with the attacker’s hand slightly twisted exposing the inner arm is ideal. This is not one point but a line of the nerve that can be utilized. You must practice on many people to really learn this technique. When using nerve attacks in a fight you must watch the enemy’s expression and body movements to assure you’re hold is working.
Nerve Hook
If you look back at the stars image you will see a very tight group of nerves just behind the collar bone. This technique is the perfect example of a Mantis attack. You press down with one or two fingers hooking down and behind the collar bone. Again this technique takes a lot of practice to create the most pain. Experiment with pushing down and digging in back and forth. Keep your eyes on your opponent’s face and body motion. Done properly the enemy’s body should slowly sink down towards the ground.
